Hopes Fade in Ferry Disaster

As hopes of finding more survivors faded, officials said the sinking of a ferry overloaded with 492 passengers and crew could be Indonesia’s worst maritime disaster in almost two decades. Rescue workers fear that no one beyond the 10 survivors and one body found early Sunday near Karakelong Island will be recovered, said Setio Rahardjo, head of the government’s search and rescue agency. The Cahaya Bahari went down Thursday in a violent storm, survivors said.
