Tilt-Up Construction to Be Used in Firehouse

Across Orange County’s landscape, the dominant form of development has been concrete buildings that can be used for offices or industrial warehouses.
But now the buildings, known as tilt-up construction, are used to house high-tech firms, law firms and even fire stations.
Oltmans Construction Co. in Whittier, one of the region’s largest contractors, said it is building the first fire station in Southern California that uses a building style designed to blend into the surrounding low-rises in the Irvine Spectrum.
The station, a one-story, 10,000-square-foot structure, will be built just south of the San Diego Freeway at the Irvine Center Drive exit. Valued at $1.5 million, the project is expected to be completed in September.
