Stolen Flag
Our American flag was stolen on the Fourth of July. It had been displayed on the lawn less than two hours before it disappeared.
I started the day teaching my 5-year-old son the meaning of American independence and freedoms. Instead, he learned two other things: You can’t trust even your neighbors, and many people are at best thoughtless and at worst without consciences or morals.
And people wonder why so few flags were displayed on Memorial Day and Flag Day. How long will it be before we stop seeing them on Independence Day as well?
