* Update--Point guard Jennifer Azzi made her regular-season debut for Utah Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 73-69 loss to Detroit at Salt Lake City. Azzi, who broke her right hand in the preseason, played 31 minutes and had four points, five assists and two steals. Utah, in sixth place, needs a run to make the playoffs. The Starzz have lost four of their last six. The Sparks are seeking their 13th consecutive victory. This is the second of six straight home games. The Sparks haven’t lost since June 13 at Seattle. Today’s featured matchup is between Utah’s Natalie Williams and the Sparks’ Lisa Leslie, the WNBA’s two leading rebounders. Two weeks ago, Williams had 40 more rebounds than anyone else in the league. But Leslie has been gaining steadily. She is averaging 9.6 to Williams’ 11.8. The difference now is 14 rebounds, with Williams having played two more games. Williams is third in scoring with an 18.3-point average. Leslie is at 16.6. These teams’ previous meeting, the May 31 season opener, was won by the Sparks, 69-62.
