Closing the Books on Reading Page
Today marks the last edition of the weekly Reading Page. Starting next Sunday, the Education Page will broaden its focus to include literacy issues and will appear in this space.
The Reading Page debuted in November 1998 as part of the newspaper’s response to the alarmingly low reading scores of many public school students. Since then, the page has featured numerous stories about the challenges and techniques of teaching literacy at home and in the classroom.
Although the Reading Page will no longer exist as a stand-alone feature, our commitment to literacy continues.
