Anti-Violence Group Names New Director
The Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence has hired Vickie Weiner as its new executive director.
The nonprofit family treatment agency provides services to victims of family and sexual violence.
Weiner said one of her immediate goals is to form a plan to provide direction for victims of domestic and sexual violence and for abusers.
“This is what makes the coalition unique,” she said. “It’s for everyone. The victim, the victim’s family and the abuser. There has to be other factors that led to the abuse and that person needs some kind of help.”
Weiner was formerly the specialty program director at Anacapa by the Sea, a behavioral health group in Port Hueneme. In her eight years there, Weiner was instrumental in bringing nationally known speakers and pioneers in the field of behavioral medicine to the organization.
“Vickie brings with her more than 15 years of experience and we welcome her,” said coalition spokeswoman Gina Gutierrez.
