From Deaths, Lessons in Hope--and Living

Share

I was so very touched by Marian Liu’s article (“Through Their Deaths, She Saw How Dear Life Is,” July 17). I wanted to send my sympathy over the loss of her two friends. It sounds like they were very special people and that they will always be with her in spirit.

My mother is fighting ovarian cancer and, like the experience with Liu’s friends, I am inspired by her strength and positive attitude. What a gift these courageous women give to us. From them, we learn how to appreciate the little things and how to hold on to hope. Here is to healing and to appreciating the time we have with the special people in our lives.

I would first like to give my most sincere and heartfelt condolences. Losing friends is never an easy thing, and it’s even worse when it involves two people who are so young and full of life.

All too often, I get caught up worrying about trivial, stupid things in life and never think about the big picture. Learning about Marian Liu’s two friends helped to open my mind and to make me realize that I should not waste the preciousness of life, that I should try to live and enjoy my life to the fullest.
