Frank Patterson; Irish Tenor Sang for Presidents and Pope John Paul II

Frank Patterson, 58, Irish tenor who sang to audiences around the world including presidents and the pope. A native of Tipperary County, Ireland, and resident of suburban New York for many years, Patterson sang twice for Pope John Paul II and, with his wife, Eily O’Grady, twice at the White House. An active leader in the Irish American community, Patterson even epitomized the legendary Irish tenor in motion pictures, including John Huston’s “The Dead,” “Michael Collins” and “Miller’s Crossing.” He also sang classic opera and Irish ballads on some of the world’s finest stages including London’s Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall and Washington’s Kennedy Center. Vocally trained in London, Amsterdam and Paris, Patterson recorded more than three dozen albums in six languages, ranging from oratorios to international pop standards and ballads.
