David Boreanaz, who stars in the series “Angel” on the WB network, has bought a Sunset Strip-area home from actress Claudia Christian, who played Cmdr. Susan Ivanova in the syndicated sci-fi series “Babylon 5.” The asking price was just under $1.3 million.

Boreanaz, 31, plays the vampire Angel, a character that originated in the WB series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in 1997. Boreanaz, who appeared on the Fox series “Married . . . With Children” in 1993, started appearing in his spinoff series last season. In July, he starts shooting the movie “Valentine.”

Christian, 34, does a voice in the Disney animated movie “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” to be released in the summer of 2001. Christian bought another home in the Hollywood Hills.

Built in 1936, the home that she sold to Boreanaz is Cape Cod in style and has a two-bedroom, 1,700-square-foot main house plus guest, pool and hobby houses. The home also has a pool.

Victor Kaminoff, director of architectural and unique properties at Coldwell Banker-Sunset, had listed the home with David Gordon and Joe Reisman, while Marilyn White, in the same office, represented Boreanaz.

Mayor Richard Riordan has purchased the Chatsworth home of Grammy-winning rapper-producer Andre Young, also known as Dr. Dre, for about $2.8 million. The deal closed escrow in March.

Riordan, 70, has an official residence in Hancock Park and another home on the Westside. He bought Young’s home for a relative, sources said.

The house has five bedrooms in 10,000 square feet, and it is on 7.8 acres in a gated community. It was built in 1987.

Young, in his mid-30s, had owned the Victorian-style home, with a game room and six-car garage with a guest apartment, since 1997. The home also has a pool and tennis court.

Producer Pierre Cossette, who recently persuaded Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura to sign over the rights to a musical based on his life, and his wife, Mary, have listed their two-bedroom Beverly Hills condo at $599,000.

The Cossettes bought a larger Beverly Hills-area condo in May with an $895,000 asking price. Spending more time in New York than in L.A., the couple sold their Malibu home in 1998 for nearly $8 million. He has produced the Grammy Awards and such Broadway musicals as “The Will Rogers Follies.”

The condo they just listed also has a den, a fireplace and four parking spaces. The 1,720-square-foot unit is in a building constructed in 1986.

Kay Pick of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills, has the listing.
