The executive committee of a proposed Vietnam War Memorial statue announced Tuesday that more than $500,000 has been collected toward the privately funded project. The milestone amount fulfills the City Council’s request that the committee have at least that amount in hand before the council would review the project and select a site. Memorial committee member Craig Mandeville said an environmental impact report should be ready to present to the council in five weeks.
