SAN CLEMENTE

The City Council is scheduled tonight to consider whether or not to allow to allow Billabong, a sportswear company, to hold a professional surfing event at T Street beach this fall.

The event would take place near the lower Pier Bowl area Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. The council will consider closing the lower Pier Bowl parking lot or the 600 block of Avenida Victoria to accommodate a surfing expo that will run in conjunction with the contest.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at San Clemente Civic Center, 100 Avenida Presidio.
