Actor Won’t Be Home Anymore on This 813-Acre Range
Actor Kiefer Sutherland has sold his Santa Ynez Valley ranch for about its $3.6-million asking price.
The 813-acre ranch has a barn, tack room, roping area and three-bedroom, two-bath living quarters. There is a 1.6-mile paved road to the barn.
Sutherland, 33, co-stars with Daryl Hannah and Molly Ringwald in the upcoming movie “Cowboy Up,” and he will star this fall in a TV series based on the 1997 Oscar-winning movie “L.A. Confidential.”
The son of actor Donald Sutherland and actress Shirley Douglas, Sutherland appeared in such ‘80s movies as “Stand by Me” and “The Lost Boys” before he was in “Flatliners” (1990) and “A Few Good Men” (1992).
Mike Brady of Fred Sands, Santa Ynez Valley, had the listing, according to public records.

Kelly Lange, who co-anchors the daily KCBS-TV show “Women2Women News” and hosts a KRLA radio show on Sunday nights about reinventing oneself, has re-listed a Mulholland-area home at $2.75 million. The asking price is the same as when she first put it on the market in July.
Lange, who is also working on a book called “Reporter,” left KNBC-TV at the end of 1998 after anchoring the news there for 28 years. She wrote the novels “Gossip” (1999) and “Trophy Wife” (1995), both published by Simon & Schuster.
Lange has owned the Mulholland-area house for about five years. Built in 1993, the house, which she customized, has six bedrooms in nearly 10,000 square feet. It also has valley views, a library, office, gym, sauna and pool.
Lange has bought another house, which she has gutted and is rehabbing. “It has a killer view,” she said, “and when it’s ready in June, I’ll sell that one too, because I’m about to do two more houses.”

Tony Krantz, co-chairman and chief executive of Imagine Television, has put his 8.5-acre home site on the market at $4.75 million. Imagine Television produces the series “The PJs,” “Sports Night” and “Felicity.”
Krantz, a son of novelist Judith Krantz, had intended to build on the park-like site, which is on a promontory and has city views, but his career has kept him too busy.
The property has city approved plans for a main house, three auxiliary buildings and a pool. The site was sold to Krantz in 1998 by singer-songwriter Don Henley, drummer with the Eagles who went on to become a solo artist and concert organizer.
Henley had purchased the property in 1976. He listed it for sale at $10 million before the two-bedroom, 2,500-square-foot house there was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The house was razed before Krantz bought the property.
