Disney Exec Garrett Named CEO at Zyan

* Zyan Communications Inc., a Los Angeles-based DSL provider focused on broadband services for the business market, has tapped Walt Disney Co. executive Sharon D. Garrett as chief executive. At Disney, Garrett was senior vice president and chief information officer, managing the domestic and international IT operations, including a $450-million operating budget. She was also responsible for the design and expansion of Disney’s telecommunications and technology infrastructure.

Garrett succeeds Terry Lee, Zyan’s co-founder and current CEO, who will become chairman. Current chairman Michael Doherty is stepping down but will remain on the board.

* Telecom giant AT&T; has named Teresa Elder president of broadband operations-West. Elder, currently Western region senior vice president at MediaOne, will be based in Los Angeles. MediaOne is being acquired by AT&T.;
