* Lowering the speed limit to 55 miles an hour and not accelerating quickly will reduce gasoline consumption 20%. At $2 per gallon, that is a 40-cent saving. By the way, there is a similar savings in auto accident fatalities.

* Why didn’t Energy Secretary Bill Richardson, the Clinton administration and inflation-watcher Alan Greenspan know about the fuel shortage that was on its way and take the steps to do something about it? Why are we sending Alaskan oil to Japan?

Greenspan has again increased interest rates, and that will in no way do anything except add more fuel to the inflation spiral.
