Early Morning Fire Chars Fabric Store
Firefighters are investigating the cause of a blaze that nearly destroyed a fabric store early Wednesday, fire officials said.
Fabrics for Less, a large outlet in a strip mall at 3043 Saviers Road, caught fire near the back of the store about 2:30 a.m., Oxnard Battalion Chief Clarence Slayton said. Flames were extinguished within an hour.
Investigators are looking for a cause and have not ruled out arson, Slayton said. He noted there were no electrical outlets near where the fire started.
Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $300,000, Slayton said.
