13 Die After Tear Gas Is Tossed Into Disco
From Times Wire Reports
Thirteen youths died at a nightclub in Durban, South Africa, after a tear gas canister was lobbed into a room where 600 students were attending a party. In addition to those killed, 44 others were injured in the ensuing panic. A police spokesman said a brick wall collapsed during the chaos. Police suspect that one of the club patrons released the tear gas. One report said that only one of the exits was open, but the club’s owner said all four exits were open.
