Alzheimer’s Research

* Maureen Reagan has petitioned Congress for an additional $100 million for Alzheimer’s research (March 22). Has she forgotten that her father banned all transplantation of fetal tissue for Alzheimer’s research during the eight years of his administration? This ban was continued by George Bush.

I find it ironic that Reagan now suffers from this terrible disease, but I find it tragic that millions of other Americans might have benefited from this needed research.
