Church to Offer Free Health Fair

Share

A free community health-fair featuring screenings, safety tips and an opportunity to talk to doctors is scheduled for Sunday at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church.

Diabetes, glaucoma, hearing loss and blood pressure screenings will be available and a dentist will offer sealants to protect children’s teeth from cavities.

A podiatrist will also discuss foot-health issues and interns from the UCLA School of Dentistry will speak on pain management and temporomandibular joint syndrome, also known as TMJ, in which a sleeping person grinds their teeth and clenches their jaw.

Information on a variety of health subjects, including poison control, immunizations, smoking and cancer, will also be available, said Marj Harrison, a retired nurse who is coordinator of the church’s Health Ministry.

For the kids, a clown will entertain and firefighters are expected to bring a fire engine for children to explore.

The health fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church patio at 5700 Rudnick Ave.
