Dying-Father Excuse Lands Prospective Juror in Jail

ATHENS, Ga. —
A sorry excuse turned into a sorry couple of days for Rhoda Leigh Wooten.
Wooten, 32, was sentenced to two days in the county jail after court authorities learned she lied about her father dying to avoid jury service.
“While some folks do try to get out of jury duty, I’ve never seen anything like this case,” Assistant Dist. Atty. William Tanner said.
