* May is National Arthritis Month. The Arthritis Foundation wants everyone to know that nearly 43 million Americans suffer from the disease, which costs the U.S. economy $65 billion each year. This year, the foundation is sponsoring a campaign for better access to arthritis medications for all Americans. https://www.arthritis.org.

* May is also Stroke Awareness Month. The National Stroke Assn. wants to raise awareness of its stroke-prevention guidelines and the symptoms of an oncoming stroke, which include numbness, confusion, dizziness and headache. https://www.stroke.org.

* And May is Mental Health Month. The National Mental Health Assn. points out that mental illness is more common than cancer, lung disease and heart disease combined but receives fewer resources than those physical ailments. https://www.nmha.org.
