A 29-year Walt Disney World veteran with experience running amusement parks and hotels was promoted Tuesday to a position overseeing all operations except retail at Walt Disney Co.’s parks and hotels in Anaheim.

George Kalogridis will be senior vice president of operations for Disneyland and two existing hotels, as well as the new luxury hotel and second theme park Disney will open in Anaheim early next year. He reports to Disneyland President Cynthia Harriss on attractions, transportation, parking, janitorial services, costuming, scheduling and guest relations.

Kalogridis, 46, will work with Disneyland Senior Vice President Michael T. Berry, who oversees food and merchandise.

Joining Disney in 1971 as a front-line employee, Kalogridis worked his way into management. From 1990 through 1993, he was general manager of the Grand Floridian, a Disney World luxury hotel. He then became Disney World’s vice president of human resources for two years and was named to his current post, vice president of operations at the Epcot theme park, in 1995.
