Trusting the Origins of Ayurvedic Medicine

I was excited to see an article about ayurvedic medicine (“Vital Life Force Is Basis of Ayurveda,” Nov. 6), but felt disappointed after reading the article.

Barrie Cassileth summed up Ayurvedic medicine fairly accurately, but emphasized the lack of scientific evidence in favor of ayurvedic treatment. Cassileth wrote that science-based medicine “has the advantage of hundreds of years of study and research.” She is right that Ayurvedic medicine is not based on modern scientific research. Ayurvedic medicine was first described in the Vedas. The Vedas are the holy scriptures originating in India over 5,000 years ago. These scriptures were not written by ordinary humans, but by great sages and yogis who received knowledge from a higher power through meditation and devotion.

I have more trust in a medicine system that was taught by our Creator himself than in a medicine system founded by modern scientists.
