Blast at Retirement Home Kills at Least 9

The death toll from an explosion at a German pensioners home climbed to nine when rescue workers found five more victims under the rubble from the blast that occurred Monday. At least 21 people were hurt in the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by a gas leak. Two more people remained unaccounted for, authorities said. Three trapped pensioners used a mobile phone to call rescuers, but one of them, a woman, died before she could be freed.
