* SAN DIEGO (3-1) at UC IRVINE (2-0), 7, KUCI-FM (88.9)--Junior forward Tom Lippold leads the red-hot Toreros into the Bren Center for the midpoint of Irvine’s five-game, season-opening home stand. Lippold scored a team-high 17 points and made three free throws in the final 35 seconds of play Sunday to help San Diego upend host Hawaii, 65-63, in the championship game of the Tip-Off Tournament. Irvine, off to its best start in five seasons, has been led by junior guard Jerry Green (16 points, four steals a game).
