Fifteen people--14 suspected separatist guerrillas and a civilian--have been killed in gun battles with Indian security forces in India’s troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Tuesday.

They said Indian security forces shot dead four militants from the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad group Monday night at Arin village on the outskirts of Bandipore, 35 miles north of Srinagar.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group was recently launched by a Pakistani cleric, Mulana Masood Azhar.
