Troops in Kyrgyzstan have killed 120 rebels and lost 30 of their own men in operations to end an incursion by Islamist gunmen, the head of the former Soviet republic’s security council said. Bolot Dzhanuzakov told a news conference that 23 soldiers had been wounded and that one was missing after months of fighting with the gunmen, who are believed to have invaded from neighboring Tajikistan. Regional leaders accuse Afghanistan’s Taliban movement of fomenting such invasions by the Islamist separatists.
