Bloomberg News

EBay Inc., the largest Internet auction company, is talking with U.S. television networks about creating a show promoting its Web site. The company hired the William Morris Agency to help develop ideas and has been in talks with several networks, including Walt Disney Co.’s ABC unit, EBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove said. The talks were reported earlier by Inside.com. EBay’s Web site helps individuals trade everything from stamps to automobiles and real estate. The company hopes to use TV to build on its brand name, Pursglove said. EBay has yet to buy TV advertising. Shares of San Jose-based EBay closed off $6.88 at $52.75 on Nasdaq.
