Hilton Exec Named President, CEO of Park Place

Park Place Entertainment Corp., the world’s largest casino company, named Thomas Gallagher of Hilton Hotels Corp. to succeed the late Arthur Goldberg as president and chief executive.

Gallagher, 55, was executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel at Beverly Hills-based Hilton, the third-largest U.S. hotel chain. Goldberg, who was 58, died Oct. 19 from complications from bone marrow failure.

Gallagher was at Hilton when it spun off its casino business in December 1998 to form Park Place. Las Vegas-based Park Place owns the Hilton, Bally’s and Caesars casino chains. * Douglas Dobie has been named president of CreSenda Wireless, the Los Angeles-based wireless application service provider. Company founder Jonathan Siegler, who had been serving in that role, has been appointed vice chairman of the company’s board. Dobie joined CreSenda in December 1999 as vice president of sales and marketing.

* Litton Industries has appointed Sandra J. Wright vice president and controller. She replaces Carol Wiesner who, with 33 years of service to Woodland Hills-based Litton, has announced her retirement. Wright, formerly Litton staff vice president of financial planning and operations, reports to D. Michael Steuert, Litton chief financial officer.
