Palmdale’s fourth annual Harvest Moon Festival takes place this weekend, kicking off with a performance by the Lula Washington Dance Theatre on Friday at 7:30 p.m. New age artist Robert Mirabal performs Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Mirabal’s music is an eclectic mix of Native American flute and drumming with modern rock and folk elements. The children’s theater troupe We Tell Stories will conclude the festival with its presentation of “In the Village of Liver and Onions” Sunday at 2 p.m. The show is based on Carl Sandburg’s “The Rootabaga Stories.”

Chamber Music

The Burbank Chamber Orchestra opens its 10th anniversary season Saturday with a concert of music by Mozart and Mahler. Soprano Shana Blake Hill will be featured in arias from “The Marriage of Figaro,” and music director Steven Kerstein will also lead his ensemble in Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, “Titan.”

Textile Show

Still stuck for a great Halloween costume? The Textile, Costume and Clothing Show, featuring vintage and designer clothing, Victorian costumes, hats, shoes and jewelry, plus vintage fabrics, pillows, draperies, table linens, buttons, lace and decorative trims, will take place Sunday in Burbank.

Classical Concert

Musical director James Domine will lead the San Fernando Valley Symphony in its annual Halloween concert Saturday at Pierce College. The program will include “Danse Macabre” by Saint-Saens, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Dukas, Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and the “Queen of the Night” arias from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” Prizes will be awarded for the best costume.
