Gay Blood Donors
Recently I’ve seen and heard ads pleading for blood donors. I can’t take them seriously. As a gay man, they won’t take my blood. It doesn’t matter that I’m in a committed relationship, am HIV negative and in perfect health. It’s time for the Red Cross, the federal government and others to end their discrimination against gay blood donors. The faster the ban is lifted, the quicker we can get in there, roll up our sleeves and do our part to replenish the nation’s blood supply.
