Buy.com, EBay to Form Audio/Video Sales Site

Online retailer Buy.com Inc. of Aliso Viejo and Internet auctioneer EBay Inc. agreed to form a co-branded retail Internet site for the sale of new and used audio and video entertainment products.

Buy.com and EBay, based in San Jose, said in a joint press release that all CD, DVD and VHS listings from EBay unit Half.com in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., will be available at the site. Buy.com customers also will be able to sell CDs DVDs, and movies they no longer use through the new market.

The Internet site, to be called Entertainment Marketplace, is expected to launch on the Buy.com site early next year.

Buy.com stock lost 25 cents Monday to close at $2.25 a share, while EBay lost $2.13 to close at $48.25 a share, both on the Nasdaq market system.
