Key Talent Agent Quitting ICM

Talent agent Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who helped break the price barrier for female stars in Hollywood with her longtime client Julia Roberts, is leaving International Creative Management to head up the New York operations of Revolution Studios for former Disney Studios chief Joe Roth.

Her departure could leave one of ICM’s most valuable clients vulnerable to being raided by one of the rival agencies already circling. Roberts is one of a handful of megastars, including Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson, who can demand $20 million or more a picture. She is also the highest paid female star in the movie business.

Goldsmith-Thomas, who has represented Roberts for the past 13 years, will continue to work closely with her at Revolution, where the actress has a production deal. The agent said ICM Chairman Jeff Berg, who has co-represented Roberts for nearly a decade, will continue to represent the star.
