Ingram Micro Unit Buys Beamscope Division

Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest computer products distributor, said Wednesday that its Canadian unit acquired a computer hardware and software distribution business in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

The Santa Ana company did not disclose financial terms for its purchase of the computer distribution operation of Beamscope Canada Inc.

Ingram Micro said in a news release that it will purchase all of Beamscope’s computer inventory and related accounts.

As part of the acquisition, which will extend Ingram’s reach into the Canadian retail market, Ingram will hire seven Beamscope employees related to the computer distribution business.

Meanwhile, Beamscope will focus on its remaining product distribution segments of video entertainment hardware and software, Laing-branded products, Bell ExpressVu satellite systems and Flex Logistics initiatives.
