School Garden Workshop Set

The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Master Gardeners will hold their second annual School Garden Workshop on Oct. 7.

Designed for teachers, parents and volunteers who work with children, the workshop will instruct participants on how to start and maintain a school garden, including composting, vermicomposting, soils, raised beds, propagation, irrigation and gardening for special-needs kids.

Representatives from the “5 A Day-Power Play!” campaign will discuss nutrition-based gardening.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mission Viejo High School Farm, 25029 Chrisanta Drive, Mission Viejo. The cost is $35 and includes lunch. Space is limited. Registration ends Sept. 22.
