College Applications

* I agree with Carol Jago (Commentary, Sept. 1) that it “takes more than money” to get into college. I have done the applications for law school for my husband, a state university for myself and several applications for each of our four children to the UC and Cal State systems.

The last, for a 19-year-old transfer student from a junior college to the university level, was more complex, bewildering, mind-numbing and frustrating than all the others combined. My conclusion: It takes a college education to get a college education.
