HE COULDN’T COMPLETE HIS HONEY-DO LIST

And you think you have trouble losing weight?

Bradley Hore, an Australian light flyweight boxer (106 pounds), was declared ineligible on the eve of the Games because he couldn’t lose two extra pounds despite smearing himself with honey.

No, he wasn’t trying to lose weight through bee stings, he was trying to sweat more in the sauna.

It didn’t work.

“Dad, I’m spitting blood, I just can’t take it anymore,” he reportedly told his father after being declared ineligible.

In the final 17 hours before his final weigh-in, Hore exercised in a plastic track suit, took a five-kilometer run, and spent hours in the steam room coated in honey.

Close, but no potato.

“One lousy bloody kilogram,” his father John said to reporters. “That’s about what a potato weighs.”

For those who think Hore is risking his health by trying to lose so much weight, consider the father.

John Hore was so upset with the news, he started smoking again after an 18-month battle to quit.

A HOR$E IS A HOR$E, OF COUR$E, OF COUR$E

There are athletes competing here in borrowed shoes and used equipment.

Then there is Brazilian rider Rodrigo Pessoa, whose jumping horse Baloubet de Rouet is worth $5 million.

This is yet another reason that the equestrian events, which feature all sorts of dukes and queens and big shots, should be immediately transferred from the Olympics to the America’s Cup.
