Although the United States was the only country to qualify for all 14 rowing events, there were no U.S. heat-winners in the seven events today.
The best U.S. performance was the men’s coxless pairs and coxless fours finishing in the top three to advance to the semifinals Wednesday.
Everyone else will get a second chance to advance in the repechage Tuesday. Heats for the other seven events will be held Monday.
The biggest surprise of the day was the British coxless pair of Greg Searle and Edward Coode holding off Australia’s James Tomkins and Matthew Long in their heat.
