In Paul Brownfield’s article about the upcoming “Michael Richards Show” (“Master of This Domain,” Sept. 17), he writes that it will be compared with “Get Smart,” when in truth the only series that ever came close to that classic’s inspired lunacy was the ‘80s spoof “Sledgehammer.”

There was also a comparison made to Peter Sellers’ Inspector Clouseau, but Austin Powers seems a more likely heir to that comic throne.

Richards seems to be taking himself far too seriously, which is dangerous for a comedian. Despite all the claims that he’ll be playing an entirely “different” character, “The Michael Richards Show” might as well be called “Kramer P.I.”
