Working Retirees

Share

* I would like to clarify a point raised by a Sept. 21 letter writer. Social Security is no longer a disincentive for healthy adults to work past retirement. As of this year, a new law eliminated the earnings penalty on Social Security retirees age 65-69. Under the old law seniors were limited in how much they could earn each year. They can now earn as much as they want and their benefits would not be affected.

For more information on the new law, readers can go to our Web page at https://www.ssa.gov or call us at 1-800-772-1213.
