Dr. Anne E. Dyson; Expanded Pediatric Training

Dr. Anne E. Dyson, 52, pediatrician who was also president and director of the Dyson Foundation, a family philanthropy dealing primarily with children’s health issues. Born in White Plains, N.Y., Dyson earned her undergraduate degree from New York University, received her medical degree from New York Medical College in 1977 and completed her internship at St. Christopher’s hospital in Philadelphia. Among the programs the Dyson Foundation funded was one to help hospitals extend pediatric training to include subjects like teenage pregnancy and single-family homes. Dyson said it was her experience in Philadelphia that helped her understand the need for hospitals to expand pediatric training to cover these topics. Dyson was also a member of the board of the Hole in the Wall Gang Fund, which provides summer camp experiences for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. On Friday at her home in Millbrook, N.Y., of breast cancer.
