Developer Overton, Moore & Associates Inc. has completed the 547,000-square-foot first phase of its 1.9-million-square-foot Port Los Angeles Distribution Center at Gaffey Street and Westmont Drive in San Pedro.

The first phase of the $115-million project has been leased to Performance Teams Freight Systems of Compton, and the second phase will be completed by the end of the year, according to Timur Tecimer, president of Gardena-based Overton Moore, which is developing the property in partnership with Pacific Coast Capital Partners of Los Angeles.

The development features a 30-foot tall abstract, created by sculptor Brad Howe and unveiled last week, that reflects the maritime heritage of San Pedro.

The project, which occupies the site of a former petroleum tank facility, was designed by Hill Pinckert Architects of Irvine and is being built by Oltmans Construction Co. of Whittier, with construction financing by Wells Fargo Bank.
