Intersil Holding Corp. Investing in PowerSmart

Intersil Holding Corp., an Irvine maker of chips that manage power consumption in personal computers, said Tuesday that it will invest $5 million in PowerSmart Inc. as part of a development project.

Intersil said in a press release that the two companies will work to develop ways to extend battery life in such mobile appliances as cellular telephones.
