Dutchman Sentenced in 58 Migrants’ Deaths
From Times Wire Reports
A Dutch driver who watched movies and ate dinner while 58 Chinese immigrants suffocated inside his truck was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The victims suffocated in June during a five-hour boat crossing from Belgium to the British port of Dover. Two people survived.
British Justice Alan Moses laid much of the blame for the tragedy on driver Perry Wacker, 32, who was also convicted on four counts of conspiracy.
