Children’s Self-Images Are Reflections of Ours

It does not surprise me that girls whose weight was above average had a negative perception of themselves (“Negative Self-Image Starts Early,” March 5). Unfortunately, we live in a culture that makes that message loud and clear.

Most women struggle with their own self-image as it relates to weight. So how can we expect our daughters to be any different? Although certainly there are many aspects to the whole problem of obesity and self-image, each of us can take responsibility for our lives, our daughters. And we can make a difference, one child at a time.
