‘I had a ’98 Hamel Syrah at a wonderful little restaurant in Santa Rosa called Feast. It’s made by Kevin Hamel, the winemaker at Preston Vineyards. I like red wines in general-they tend to be dark, rich and have a complexity in flavors. And I like the funky, gamy, roasted-meat character of Syrah. I also like wine from people I know.’
