Bloomberg News

Palm Inc., which last month lowered sales forecasts on slumping demand, cut prices on some hand-held personal computers to reduce swelling inventory. Palm marked down its lowest-priced device, the m100, to $129 from $149, and also cut prices on its Vx and IIIc models. Palm said the value of inventory this quarter could triple to more than $300 million from last quarter’s $102.5 million. Separately, Palm extended Handspring Inc.’s license of the Palm operating system through April 2009 from September 2003. Financial terms were not disclosed. Palm shares rose 3 cents to $7.10 and Handspring shares fell $1.05 to $12.05, both on Nasdaq.
