Generic Drug Debacle

“Drug Firms Accused of Trying to Block Low-Cost Generics” [April 3] was a wonderful introduction to some of the pharmaceutical problems plaguing health care.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Our patients have suffered as a result of the collusive and illegal practices of large and small drug manufacturers. It is time for a large-scale investigation into the entire generic drug crisis.

As it is, surgeries have been canceled due to the lack of generic drugs and patients have had to pay millions more for medications than they should have paid.

When history recalls this national disaster, the illegal efforts of corporate drug moguls will top the savings and loan debacle in money spent and lives lost.
