Explosion Damages Postal Building
An explosion blew out the windows of a northwestern London postal sorting center, police and witnesses said. There were no initial reports of injuries.
Alan Fry, assistant commissioner of Scotland Yard’s anti-terrorist branch, said dissident Irish republicans were probably behind the explosion.
The blast at the building, near busy Edgeware Road, came two days after the renegade Real IRA issued a statement vowing to keep up its struggle to end British rule of Northern Ireland.
Police said no one was in the sorting office when the blast hit.
