Improving Foster Care

Share

It’s heartening to see lawmakers make efforts toward improving the foster care system (April 18). However, adoptive and foster families must continue to learn how to be their own best advocates. They must endure the power of social workers, the overburdened court system and the refusal of school districts to readily grant help to children with special needs. As an adoptive father, I believe the bottom line is that foster children need families who are committed to them and the families themselves need a network of care.
