Puddings With a Difference

Puddings in a rainbow of pastel colors may appear conventional, but some of the flavors are not because these puddings are Chinese. They’re stocked at the Phoenix Food Boutique, a dessert shop that opened a few months ago next to Phoenix Inn Chinese Cuisine in Alhambra. The pale green pudding is honeydew, combined with tapioca. The pale orange pudding is delicately flavored with durian. A deeper orange mango pudding contains bits of fresh mango. The pink pudding is strawberry and also contains fresh fruit. And the white pudding is litchi. Light and not too sweet, the puddings are packed in plastic cups for easy takeout.
